LARCHMONT, NY (November 30, 2023) — The Village of Larchmont Board of Trustees has issued a statement to address misunderstandings about the special permit process for Locals, a private event space.
Locals 10538, located at 2128 Boston Post Road in Larchmont, bills itself as a Restaurant, Cafe’ & Market with an Event space and Music Venue.
The Board clarified that Locals initially applied for a special permit in 2023, describing the venue as suitable for events such as baby showers, violin concerts, and birthday parties, without mention of routine rock concerts. Upon discovering noise issues affecting neighbors, the Board requested Locals to enhance soundproofing.
Despite violations of the Village’s Noise Code and special permit conditions, the Board opted not to revoke the permit. Instead, they are working with sound consultants to rectify the situation. A report from the Village’s sound consultant following April 15 testing is awaited to determine the way forward.
