MAMARONECK, NY (May 10, 2026) — The Committee for the Environment in Mamaroneck has announced the rescheduling of its 3rd Native Plant Swap & Giveaway event, now set for Saturday, May 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event will take place at the Poetry Garden, located at the corner of Library Lane and Prospect Avenue. Originally planned for May 9, the event was postponed due to weather conditions.

Residents are invited to bring native seedlings, divided plants, flowers, ferns, shrubs, seeds, and other garden plants to share. Vegetables and herbs are also welcome. The event encourages participation from new gardeners even if they do not have plants to bring, offering an opportunity to benefit from the generosity and expertise of experienced local gardeners.

In celebration of International Compost Awareness Week, Elizabeth Poyet, an expert composter from the Larchmont Mamaroneck Pollinator Pathway, will be present to provide information about organic backyard composting. Additionally, information will be available regarding the Village’s Food Scraps Recycling Program.

The Village Tree Committee will participate by providing native tree saplings, and the Village Arts Committee will offer a children’s coloring activity focused on native plants and flowers. Families are encouraged to attend and bring their children.

This event serves as an excellent opportunity to exchange plants, learn about the ecological benefits of native species, and connect with neighbors who share an interest in gardening and creating pollinator-friendly habitats. Knowledgeable gardeners will be on hand to answer questions and assist residents in incorporating native plants into their gardens.
