NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (May 19, 2026) — Voters in New Rochelle have approved the City School District of New Rochelle budget for the 2026-2027 school year, with an official vote tally of 1860 to 750. The $370.4 million budget includes a tax levy increase of 1.85% and passed with a 71% majority.
The community also gave the nod to a $35 million bond proposition for district-wide safety and maintenance capital projects, which passed with a 71% majority. Projects include boiler replacements, public address system updates, and HVAC improvements.
CSDNR Superintendent Dr. Corey W. Reynolds expressed gratitude, saying, “I am grateful for the support of our community in passing this budget, which involved making very difficult decisions.”
In addition, Carmen Perez was elected to a five-year term on the Board of Education, and Roshanie Ross was re-elected to a second five-year term.
The New Rochelle Public Library’s 2026-2027 budget of $7.67 million was also approved, alongside a $55 million library capital bond. This bond will fund upgrades to infrastructure and public spaces, with an estimated annual impact on taxpayers of $204.
Library Executive Director Eugenia Schatoff stated, “This vote reflects a strong belief in the Library’s role in the life of our city and a shared commitment to investing in its future.”
