WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (June 4, 2026) — Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace and New York State Police Troop T Commander Major Kyle J. Kroeger announced the resumption of the District Attorney’s Safer Highways (D.A.S.H.) traffic safety initiative.

The program will see increased State Police patrols on the New York State Thruway, impacting I-87, I-287, and I-95 within Westchester County. Starting tomorrow and continuing through early July, Troop T will enhance enforcement targeting speeding, alcohol or drug-impaired driving, distracted driving, and other vehicle and traffic law violations.

The DA’s Office will deploy three Assistant District Attorneys to focus on severe cases, aiming to identify and prosecute potential criminal infractions. February’s iteration of the DASH initiative resulted in multiple felony and misdemeanor arrests, DWI arrests, vehicle impoundments, and the recovery of firearms and narcotics.

“As we enter prom and graduation season and that time of year where the weather improves and there are inevitably more drivers on the road, this is a good time to reinstitute our DASH initiative,” said DA Cacace. “Our ultimate goal is to keep all our Westchester roads as safe as possible.”

Major Kroeger emphasized the importance of such programs in ensuring roadway safety, stating, “Safe driving saves lives. We are pleased to partner with District Attorney Cacace in putting this enhanced spotlight on public safety.”
