Larchmont Residents Warned to Expect Dead Rats in the Streets This Week

Written By: Robert Cox

LARCHMONT, N.Y. (June 15, 2025) — The Village of Larchmont announced Thursday it will conduct a targeted rodent control operation next week at an unspecified location believed to be contributing to rodent activity in surrounding areas.

The Village said the effort is part of its broader rodent management program, which includes ongoing monitoring, sanitation improvements and other measures aimed at reducing rodent populations throughout the community.

Residents should expect to see increased rodent activity or dead rodents in the days immediately following treatment, the Village said. Officials said they will monitor the area and work to promptly remove and properly dispose of any carcasses.

The Village asked residents to avoid disturbing rodent control equipment or treatment areas and to keep children and pets away from any posted or marked locations. All treatment areas will be clearly marked, according to the announcement.
