MAMARONECK, NY (June 22, 2026) — A Bronx man was charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated after New York State Police found him asleep behind the wheel along the Thruway in Mamaroneck, troopers said. He was arraigned in Mamaroneck Village Court and released on his own recognizance pending a future court date.
Miguel Perez Mendez, 43, of the Bronx, was arrested June 21 by troopers assigned to State Police New Rochelle, according to a State Police press release.

During a welfare check, troopers administered standardized field sobriety tests that were indicative of intoxication, and Perez Mendez was arrested for DWI, according to the release.
