WHITE PLAINS, NY (June 24, 2026) — A Port Chester man was convicted Wednesday of repeatedly sexually abusing a 12-year-old child and then attempting to cover up the crime by bribing and tampering with the victim, Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced.

A Westchester County jury found Segundo Pucha-Carchi, 56, guilty of one count of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, a class B violent felony; one count of Bribing a Witness, a class D felony; two counts of Tampering with a Witness in the Fourth Degree, a class A misdemeanor; and six counts of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Pucha-Carchi faces up to 32 years in state prison when he is sentenced Aug. 11 by Judge Robert Prisco. He is being held at the Westchester County Jail.

According to the DA’s office, Pucha-Carchi sexually abused the child between December 2023 and October 2024, subjecting the victim to sexual conduct including vaginal sexual contact. After his arrest, prosecutors said, he attempted to influence the child’s testimony through bribery, witness tampering and other means.

Cacace said the verdict cannot erase what the victim endured. “I am so proud of the victim for summoning the strength needed to testify against Mr. Pucha-Carchi,” she said in a statement, adding that her office would continue supporting the victim’s recovery and would seek a substantial prison sentence.

Case history

Court records from the New York State Unified Court System’s WebCriminal portal show the case took roughly nine months to reach a verdict. Pucha-Carchi was arraigned Sept. 30, 2025, before Judge Prisco, who issued a temporary order of protection and remanded him without bail. That order of protection was vacated during a hearing on April 29, 2026.

The case went through two consolidation motions, decided Dec. 15 and 16, 2025, and an omnibus motion that was partially granted on March 17, 2026 — the same day the court found the case ready for trial and prosecutors filed their certificate of compliance.

Jury selection and trial began June 3 and ran through June 24, with sessions held on June 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 11, 12, 15, 18, 22 and 24 before the jury returned its verdict.

The indictment, which listed 27 counts in total, also included several counts of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, Tampering with a Witness in the Fourth Degree, and Acting in a Manner Injurious to a Child that the docket lists as “covered by” the convicted counts, meaning the jury was not required to return separate verdicts on them.

The case was investigated by the Port Chester Police Department and is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Stephanie Baehr and Assistant District Attorney Paige Pirtle.
