PELHAM, NY (July 10, 2023) — Pelham Art Center, in collaboration with Project Community, has announced the launch of the Smarty Arts Program, a creative enrichment initiative designed for children with special needs. The program is set to begin on July 10 at the Pelham Art Center.

The Smarty Arts Program aims to support children through hands-on art and movement activities, incorporating local teen mentors to encourage and connect with younger participants. This initiative is intended as a supplement to the Summer Stars school program, offering students opportunities to build confidence, explore creativity, and develop social connections.

“Supporting individuals with special needs through meaningful art experiences is an honor for Pelham Art Center,” said Nancy Mazzei, Interim Executive Director of Pelham Art Center. “Our partnership with Project Community allows us to expand access to creative programming that supports a broad spectrum of abilities and therapeutic needs.”

The program will run on Fridays from 9:30–11:30 AM, from July 10 through August 21, for students in Summer Stars grades 3–6. The cost for all sessions is $140, and registration is available online.
