NEW ROCHELLE, NY (June 29, 2026) — The City of New Rochelle has announced a partnership with Iona University’s Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation to bolster the city’s small business ecosystem and provide resources for local entrepreneurs. This collaboration will lead to the establishment of a new Economic and Small Business Development Hub in downtown New Rochelle.

The Hub, located at 10 Church Street, will be operated by Iona University’s Hynes Institute, providing professional support and tailored services to meet the needs of local businesses. The initiative is part of New Rochelle’s broader economic development strategy, the Vanguard Initiative, which aims to enhance the city’s public realm, accessibility, and retail environment.

Adam Salgado, New Rochelle Commissioner of Development, stated, “By partnering with Iona University’s Hynes Institute, we’re connecting that local energy with academic expertise and real-world support – creating a more coordinated, responsive system that helps businesses start, grow, and adapt over time.”

Christoph Winkler, Ph.D., of Iona University, emphasized the partnership’s potential, saying, “The Hub will leverage Iona’s expertise to provide practical support that helps businesses launch, grow, and thrive.”

The Hub will offer business counseling, educational workshops, and marketing guidance. It is set to open in fall 2026, with community engagement efforts starting in summer 2026.
