MAMARONECK, N.Y. (July 27, 2026) — Village of Mamaroneck police are investigating a forcible touching incident that occurred early Sunday, July 26, 2026, in the area of Florence Street and Halstead Avenue.
At approximately 1:20 a.m., three women were walking home after leaving a local establishment when an unknown male approached one of the women from behind and grabbed her, police said. During the struggle, the suspect forced the victim to the ground and inappropriately touched her before fleeing the area after the victim’s companions intervened, according to the release.
Police described the suspect as possibly a male in his early 20s, approximately 5-foot-10 with a slim build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants, with his face covered by a black cloth, police said.
The Village of Mamaroneck Investigations Division is actively investigating the incident and reviewing surveillance footage from the surrounding area, according to the release.
Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed the suspect or suspicious activity, or who has surveillance or doorbell camera footage from Florence Street, Halstead Avenue or the surrounding neighborhood between 1 and 2 a.m. on July 26, to contact investigators.
