NEW ROCHELLE, NY (August 18, 2026) — The Wooden Spoon, a New Rochelle restaurant that operated for 11 years, will close permanently this Sunday night, owner Nick Triscari announced in a Facebook post.
The restaurant spent nine years on Division Street and two years on North Avenue during its run, according to the post. “The last 11 years, 9 on divison st and 2 on north ave, have been an incredible ride,” Triscari wrote. “We thank everyone who made the wooden spoon a part of their lives. We learned a lot and we strived to do our best to make your experience a memorable one.”
According to the restaurant’s website, The Wooden Spoon “has been a work in progress for over 30 years,” with Triscari tracing his love of food to his childhood, watching his grandmother “bake, roast, and fry ‘comfort food'” and spending time in his family’s pizzeria. He wrote that his connection to food deepened after he joined the New Rochelle Fire Department, where “the epicenter of every firehouse is the dinner table.” The restaurant’s menu included recipes drawn from that background, including his grandmother’s bread pudding, his mother’s vegetable lasagna and New Rochelle Fire Department Station 1’s smothered pork chops, according to the website.
Triscari also thanked the restaurant’s staff in the closing announcement. “I also want to truly thank each and every employee during the course of these 11 years,” he wrote. “The restaurant industry isn’t an easy industry to work in. All of my employees have worked long hours, nights, and weekends sacrificing their own time to serve each and everyone one of you. Without my dedicated employees we wouldn’t have made it 1 year let alone 11 years.”
Customers who have booked events with The Wagon, the restaurant’s mobile catering operation, will still be served. According to the post, The Wagon will continue operating through another kitchen and is expected to handle catering needs until June 2027.
“Thank you all, Nick,” the post concluded.
