NEW ROCHELLE, NY (August 19, 2026) — Mariano Bulfamante, a New Rochelle businessman who founded a landscaping company later run by his sons and grandchildren, died Aug. 19 at age 89.
Bulfamante was born Nov. 24, 1936, in Sciara, Sicily, and immigrated to the United States at 18. He founded a landscaping business that grew to include his three sons and, eventually, many of his grandchildren, becoming a family legacy spanning generations.
At home, Bulfamante took pride in his garden, which provided for Sunday family dinners, with his seasonal peas and figs especially anticipated by the family.
He married his wife, AnnaMarie, and the couple raised four children. He is survived by his children Anna (Tony) Serrao, daughter-in-law Anna Bulfamante (wife of his late son Sebastian), Anthony (Rose) Bulfamante and Stephen (Josephine) Bulfamante; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and extended family members. He was predeceased by his wife, AnnaMarie, and his son Sebastian Bulfamante.
A visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lloyd Maxcy and Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, Aug. 21, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 559 Pelham Manor Road, Pelham.
