NEW ROCHELLE, NY (September 29, 2026) — New Rochelle High School senior Lev Goldsmith has been sworn in as a member of the City School District of New Rochelle Board of Education for a term running through June 30, 2027.
Board President Makeda Lewis administered the oath of office during the board’s Sept. 10 meeting at New Rochelle High School’s Linda E. Kelly Theatre. Goldsmith’s term began July 1, 2026.
Superintendent Dr. Corey W. Reynolds, who has already met with Goldsmith, congratulated him on his appointment.
“I welcome you. It has been a pleasure working with you thus far, and I’m looking forward to a very positive year with your involvement in this civic duty,” Reynolds said.
Goldsmith praised the school district’s faculty and staff for their commitment to students and pointed to the opportunities available to students both inside and outside the classroom.
“I look forward to doing my part to help Board members see issues from a wide range of perspectives — especially student perspectives,” Goldsmith said. “It means taking the time to learn more, dig deeper, and better understand the issues facing our district.”
Goldsmith said collaboration could help improve the school experience throughout the district.
“With those ingredients and real collaboration, we will continue to improve the school experience, not just for NRHS students, but for all students across the district,” Goldsmith said. “I made a promise to my peers during my campaign to ensure that each and every one of their voices is heard, and I plan to make sure that promise becomes a reality.”
Goldsmith said he looks forward to working with Reynolds and board trustees during the coming year to help ensure New Rochelle schools continue to thrive and remain a school community students and staff love.
