RYE, NY (October 9, 2026) — A Flushing woman was arraigned on felony drug charges following a traffic stop on the New York State Thruway in Rye, authorities said.
On October 8, 2026, New York State Police Troop T, SP New Rochelle, and Troop K Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Alejandra Herrera, 36, of Flushing, N.Y., for felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, third degree, and felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, third degree with intent to sell.
Troopers conducted the stop at approximately 10:30 p.m. on I-95 southbound for a 2016 Nissan sedan in violation of vehicle and traffic laws. During the investigation, officers discovered multiple plastic baggies containing approximately 21.5 grams of suspected cocaine in the vehicle.
Herrera, the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, was arrested and transported to SP New Rochelle for processing. Along with the felony charges, she received multiple citations for vehicle and traffic law violations.
Herrera was arraigned in Rye City Court and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to return to court on October 20.
