MAMARONECK, NY (October 25, 2023) — The Village of Mamaroneck will update its MS4 stormwater management program with a $45,452 grant. This initiative is part of a broader effort to establish a long-term framework for stormwater management and flood resiliency.
The funding is part of more than $30.4 million in State grants awarded to support 31 projects aimed at improving water quality in the Hudson Valley. Governor Kathy Hochul announced the grants, which are designed to protect drinking water, update aging infrastructure, and reduce contributors to harmful algal blooms.
“Governor Hochul’s $30.4 million investment will directly help communities across the Hudson Valley upgrade essential infrastructure, safeguard drinking water, and enhance resiliency against flooding,” said DEC Region 3 Director Kelly Turturro.
The Water Quality Improvement Project (WQIP) grant program will support 15 projects with more than $29.1 million, while the Non-Agricultural Nonpoint Source and Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System Planning Grant (NPG) program will fund 16 projects with over $1.3 million to enhance water quality and climate resiliency.
