Students Who Cheat Call Themselves Ethical, Study Shows

David Crary at the AP is reporting that The Josephson Institute surveyed close to 30,000 students across the United States and found that although 30% reported cheating at school, 93% believed they were ethical.

The survey found that 35 percent of boys and 26 percent of girls — 30 percent overall — acknowledged stealing from a store within the past year. One-fifth said they stole something from a friend; 23 percent said they stole something from a parent or other relative…93 percent of the students said they were satisfied with their personal ethics and character, and 77 percent affirmed that “when it comes to doing what is right, I am better than most people I know.”

It would hardly be a surprise to find that students in the New Rochelle public schools have a warped sense of ethics given the ethically-challenged administration of the school district. A fish rots from the head down, as they say.
