New Rochelle’s History Burns While Council Fiddles- say NO to home rule

Written By: Talk of the Sound News

If the council really is considering to vote on weaseling out of their obligation to maintain the Armory, then they really are fiddling around with the sole purpose of why they are elected. To serve the public, not the interests of a developer or their own personal vision of what they want to see. A caller on WVOX made the claim that the mayor has no great project to call his own, and bullying and pushing through HIS vision would give him the “feather in his cap” needed to spur him on to loftier political goals . Isn’t there ANY sense of history left within this city. We go around and polish the plaques, restore a few monuments and call that preservation? Meanwhile, the grand icons of our culture as a city get razed to suit the current political idea of the month club. At OUR expense, mind you. Museums, theatres, Armories, neighborhoods, none of that has any significance anymore when compared to the money given away to outsiders. It’s shameful. Perhaps there aren’t any true New Rochellians left that care about their history, and the importance of true preservation. By voting for the home rule request, it’s only a matter of time before they come after YOUR property. Think about that. Say NO to home rule, but don’t say it to me tell your council person. They’re here to serve, Right?

  1. It is CRUCIAL to preserve history for future generations.
Historical landmarks will tell the stories to our children and their children when we are no longer around. It is also CRUCIAL to remind our children that freedom is not free. The price paid for our freedom was and is a very high price in the loss of lives. That 300 hundred of those lives were from New Rochelle means we should be forever grateful to those soldiers and their families. There must be more ‘true New Rochellians’ out there.

    1. Keeping history alive, keeps us from repeating it.
I think the saying goes, that a society that doesn’t value their history is destined to repeat it.

  2. Who gives a S—…
ABOUT THE ARMORY?!?! We have way better things to think about right now. Enough a this crap you post about the stupid armory! Get a damned life and move on already!

    1. Who give a S—…?Those who care!
Those of us who believe Bramson has handed enough to Lou Cappelli and the Forest City’s while getting nothing in return.
50 years of Pilots producing very little @ New Roc.
Sales Pitches from Apicella, The Emperior has no clothes or No Kohls ad Target in reality.
Trump Cappelli virtually empty. About 30 sold to date.
New Roc Lofts originally for singles and according to council members still on the Council they won’t have children entering our School System. Well the ads are now touting that school system and it being a great place for families.
This is not only about the Armory but it is more so Bramsons lack of Vision. Armory’s all of the US are used in a recreational purpose for the Citizen. The deed limits Bramson’s ability unless he pulls a fast one.
The people who care see this as a matter of laying the tax burden upon the tax payer while Boy Wonder continues to sweeten deals to developers. That is why we give a s—!

    2. dolt squad branches out into another area with usual ignorance
I see the dolt squad is testing the waters in yet another area where they are completely unversed. You guys are just dying for attention. Whats the matter didn’t mommy pay enough attention to you as a child? Thats OK , the more you talk, the more our argument makes sense. You’re actually helping us in your own “challenged” way. So thanks dolt!. There now, does that validate you?

    3. History must not be your strong suit, Mr. WhoGivesA.
A man named Sam Adams stated, “It is the right of the people to withdraw their support from that government which fails to fulfill its trust. If this does not persuade the government, it is the right of the people to overthrow it.”

Sam Adams is NOT just a name for beer.

      1. Thank you, deep!
I’m sure you are aware, but maybe not so much our younger readers, the original deepthroat was the person responsible for bringing Watergate to light which forced Nixon to resign (in order to avoid impeachment). Just a little history!

      2. Hence the name…..and
Hence the name…..and thanks for clearing that up..we wouldnt want our younger readers to think this is a “slang” name for something else…
