There will be additional brief presentations of the School and Library Budgets.

Minutes of Meeting of January 28, 2010

District Six Council of Neighborhood Associations at Temple Beth-el, North Avenue, New Rochelle, N.Y. 10804

• The meeting started at 7:45 pm, and was chaired by Richard Sosis, Chair

• Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted and approved unanimously

• The Treasurer’s report was given by Maryce Cohen indicating that we have $565.00 on deposit. Maryce said that most of the constituent neighborhood associations haye failed to pay their dues, and that she will be making an effort to be in touch with the a.<;sociations directly by phone or email in the coming weeks. Note: Please remit your associations dues payment to Maryee at your earliest convenience. • Mitchell Tamopal made the observation that a tree had fallen on Donald Drive in the recent stonn, and had caused electrical problems in the community. That was confirmed by David Schribman. • Carol Kelly reported that the Stratton Hills Neighborhood Association is concerned about the development of condominiums at the site of the present Heathcote Tavern at 5 Comers. She reported that the developer is planning to build 18 residential units at the site, which will be serviced by Weaver Street. Marianne Sussman noted that the site is in Scarsdale • Our guest for our January meeting was Bennie Giles, the new City Clerk. He was introduced by Richard Sosis who noted that Mr. Giles is the successor to Dorothy Allan, who passed away in 2009. Mr. Giles spoke at length about the work of his office, pointing out that there are 5 fulltime and 2 part-time employees in his office. He reminded us that the City Clerk keeps local birth, death and marriage records, as well as issuing a variety of licenses. He is also responsible for recording and keeping the minutes of City Council meetings. Mr. Giles told us about a variety of projects that he is initiating, and fielded a variety of questions from the members about the work of his office. • Marianne Sussman, our Councilwom~spoke briefly about 1. The Brush With Kindness program run by Habitat For Humanity 2. A grant to the city to prevent foreclosures and homelessness 3. Construction and use of the sidewalk on Northfield 4. A Legacy Grant of $9.8 Million from the County to the City for the renovation of City Field Marianne took questions from the floor. • At about 9:30 p.m., a motion to adjourn was made and seconded.
