On Memorial Day 2010 the American Legion on North Avenue hosted a breakfast for the fleet week troops that marched in the New Rochelle Memorial Day parade.

Hats off to the volunteers working in the kitchen at the American Legion. The trays of pancakes just kept coming.
One volunteer tearfully told me that he volunteered at the American Legion in honor of his friend of 14 years who did not come back from Vietnam.
It was wonderful to see the troops who were so polite and respectable. It was an honor to see them and help in some small way to serve breakfast.
