City partners with Con Edison for energy efficiency, cost savings

New Rochelle, NY— The City of New Rochelle is partnering with Con Edison to help its small
business community become more energy efficient.

Through Con Edison’s “Small Business Energy Efficiency Program”, eligible New Rochelle
businesses- those using an average of 100 kilowatts or less of electricity per month- will receive a
free energy audit plus a free thank you gift of some energy saving products. Should the business
elect to implement any of the energy efficiency improvements recommended by the audit, up to
70% of the cost will be paid for by the program. Examples of typical energy upgrades are high
efficiency lighting; heating, ventilation and cooling system tune-ups; and refrigeration upgrades.
These energy efficiency upgrades will save the participating businesses money by lowering their
utility bills.

“This Con Edison program is a fantastic deal,” says Deborah Newborn, New Rochelle’s
Sustainability Coordinator. “This program can play an important role in New Rochelle’s effort to
become a more energy efficient and sustainable city by providing our small businesses with
completely free audits as well as the upfront payment of 70% of the cost of most energy upgrades. I
hope that our small business community takes advantage of this unique opportunity.”

“The Chamber of Commerce of New Rochelle, in its effort to promote business and help its
members achieve greater efficiencies and a stronger bottom line, endorses this program by Con
Edison,” said Chamber Executive Director Eli Gordon. “This is an opportunity for small business to
increase their operational efficiency by cutting costs and improving their energy usage. And the
savings of 70% of the upfront costs is the proverbial ‘icing on the cake’. This is a program that
deserves serious consideration.”

Con Edison has retained the consulting firm Willdan Energy Solutions to provide the services in
this program. New Rochelle businesses interested in taking advantage of this opportunity should
call 1-888-Willdan (1-888-945-5326) to find out if they are eligible for the program and/or to
schedule their free energy audits.
