New Rochelle, NY — Santa Clara defeated Iona College 76-69 to win the CollegeInsider.com tournament on Wednesday night. It is the second Championship game loss for the Gaels this month which was beaten in the finals of the MAAC tournament by St. Peters 62-57.
Mike Glover had a standout performance, scoring 22 points with 12 rebounds, 3 blocks and 1 steal.
The loss ends what has been a magnificent season for the Iona College men’s basketball team. The team went 25-12 on the season. To reach the CIT finals Iona defeated Valparaiso, Buffalo and East Tennessee State.
The CIT is in its third year as a post-season tournament featuring primarily teams from mid-major conferences including the West Coast, Mountain West, MAAC, Conference USA, and the Missouri Valley conference.
