Incoming Tide Music Presents Blues Guitar Great Jonathan Kalb this Friday, April 8th

Written By: Talk of the Sound News

New York Times review…”Jonathan Kalb… His guitar playing reveals an unassuming rhythmic fluency that supports the intensity of his solo lines beautifully. Raw and graceful by turns, his solo lines do not so much fill the space as use it with economy and intelligence… the results are transcendent.”

Vocalist, guitarist, harmonica player, multi instrumentalist and songwriter has entertained both with his own bands and as a solo performer for forty years.

In addition he has worked with many great blues, soul and rock artists such as: Steve Miller, Otis Rush, Lightning Hopkins, Bo Diddley, Solomon Burke , Sunnyland Slim, Evelyn Champagne King (band leader), Tracey Nelson, Honeyboy Edwards, Gary US Bonds. Has co-billed with or opened for blues greats: BB King, Luther Allison, Dr. John, Mike Bloomfield, Johnny Copeland and many others.

At age 19 as musical director of the Fugs he influenced Jimi Hendrix who worked next door at the Cafe Wha. who attributed his use of the fuzz box from hearing Jonathan play on one in the Fugs shows that Jimi caught regularly.
He was a featured blues artist in South Carolina blues festivals in Camden (October 2005 and Charleston 2006) and made a European tour November 2009: one week in Norway and 3 weeks on his 12th tour in the UK.

Jonathan Kalb is endorsed by Hohner Inc and Tanglewood Guitars.
