I am perplexed by Mayor Bramson’s decision to act as cosignee on the campaigns of the various Democratic candidates for City Council. What should we make of this? If, for example, I live in Ms. Rackman’s district, will she vote to protect my interests, or the longer term political career interests of our Mayor? This is not a question to be taken lightly when some of the Mayor’s development deals have brought financial hardship to the city.
Every member on City Council gets one vote. Does this mean a vote for Rackman by us will become two votes for Bramson in the future? The Mayor’s financial backing of the Democratic candidates brings up some serious ethical questions.
