Zelson Beyond the DripsHilary Zelson, a graduate of Mamaroneck High School ’07, and Union College ’11 (Magna Cum Laude, with a BA in Fine Art, and Departmental Honors) will be exhibiting “Dripping in Glitter” at New Rochelle City Councilman Ivar Hayden’s Backstreet Gallery and Framing April 1, 2012 though April 30, 2012.

On display is a dynamic mix of Zelson’s colorful contemporary watercolors, as well as an array of striking glitter paintings. Zelson developed an entirely new media utilizing glitter on paper instead of paint to create the sparking and eye-catching paintings.

Included in the exhibition is Zelson’s painting “Colorful Tears” which was recently part of the prestigious “30th Annual Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors,” located in Old Forge, New York. Zelson was the youngest artist included in the show. Following the exhibition, “Colorful Tears” was selected as the background for the billboard advertising for VIEW, the Art Center Old Forge. The painting also serves as the background for the Art Center program brochure.

In January, Zelson was honored as one of seven artists included in “Young Talent 2012” at the Washington Art Association in Washington Depot, Connecticut.

In addition to her focus on creating fine art, Zelson works as an art instructor at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and as an art instructor for an after school program in Massachusetts.

“Dripping in Glitter” is a testament to Zelson’s creativity and vision which generates such unique artwork. The show promises to be exciting displaying art unlike anything you have ever seen before.

The artwork reflects Zelson’s eager and unrelenting spirit as an artist. Make sure to stop by and show your support for the next generation of artists. Who knows, if Zelson keeps this up she might be the next big thing.

If you would like to speak to or support the artist, join her for a reception on Saturday, April 28, 2012, from 4 – 6 PM.

The gallery is open to the public from 12:00 to 6:00 PM Monday, Wednesday and Friday, as well as from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday.
