The New Rochelle F.U.S.E. has launched its first annual food drive on May 12th, collecting over a half-ton of boxes and cans of food for the less fortunate in the New Rochelle community.
F.U.S.E. members collected donations of non-perishable foodstuffs at the Stop & Shop on Palmer Avenue and the Key Food on Pelham Road. Donations were made to the HOPE Community Services Food Pantry and the New Rochelle Cap Food Pantry.
Shoppers were asked at the door to purchase several items from a list during their regular shopping at the store. On the way out of the store the shoppers pulled the items out of their shopping bags and made their donations.
“The event was a tremendous success,” said William Coleman, F.U.S.E. Vice President, School Related Professionals. “We want to thank Stop & Shop, Key Foods and the City School District of New Rochelle for their support in making this happen.
Coleman says F.U.S.E. plans to hold the event again next year and will look to expand to several more locations.
Also on hand from F.U.S.E. was President Martin Daly, Executive Vice President Sandra Annunziata and Safety & Health Committee Chairman Anthony Costa, among others.
