NEW ROCHELLE, NY — NoMa Social, a new, sophisticated and chic restaurant featuring a Mediterranean menu, opened today. New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson joined the owners and executive chef at the Radisson Hotel New Rochelle in a ribbon-cutting ceremony that was followed by a VIP Grand Opening reception.

Colby Brock, NoMa Social’s Food and Beverage Director and Interior Designer/Project Manager who oversaw the restaurant’s redesign and renovations, said: “We have put together a winning combination–a new Mediterranean menu created by Executive Chef Bill Rosenberg and a very warm, comfortable and attractive space that will make NoMa Social a unique destination in lower Westchester and the Sound Shore area.” She added: “Just as Rao’s is an unexpected find in Harlem, we know that NoMa Social will be a great find in a Radisson hotel.”

Mayor Bramson said: “I am glad to celebrate the opening of NoMa Social and wish the owners success in making this great new restaurant one of our city’s major destinations.”

Chef Rosenberg, formerly executive chef of F.I.S.H. Restaurant and Two Moons, both in Port Chester, noted: “Sharing food and conversation are the ultimate dining experience. NoMa Social makes that possible with a menu that offers several options for sharing food. This, combined with a cozy and comfortable atmosphere, adds up to a truly fun and enjoyable experience that diners will want to repeat and share with others.”

In explaining the vision for NoMa Social, Ms. Brock said: “Our rebranding is reflected in the name we chose. Like SoHo or TriBeCa in New York City, we know that this restaurant will be a destination, so we chose NoMa which means North of Manhattan. Social describes a place where people can have a comfortable, interactive dining and drinking experience.”

She added: “We wanted to make NoMa Social a second home for our guests. To that end, we created a ‘library décor’ that is eclectic, with warm purple and gray colors, yet chic at the same time. We have introduced lots of comfortable couches and low cocktail tables that accommodate a variety of group sizes, as well as more traditional seating.”

Ms. Brock noted that for many years the restaurant, previously the City Chow House, has been a favorite dining destination not only for people in the immediate New Rochelle area but for those from neighboring communities as well. “But, diners today are looking for more than just a good meal. They also want the experience of dining in a fabulous space. That is exactly what we set out to do for NoMa Social.”

The makeover of the restaurant is part of the $2 million in improvements over the past year that has been made to transform the 37-year-old hotel into a Manhattan boutique-style hotel.

The NoMa Social menu provides a wide selection of small plates for mixing, matching and sharing including a potato tortilla with sour cream and chives; roasted, caramelized apples; garlicky beans; and meatballs prepared with veal, ricotta and tomato-roasted pepper ragu. Charcuterie and cheese platters will feature local and international cheeses and meats.

The dinner entrees include some of Rosenberg’s signature Mediterranean dishes: chicken Scarpariello, a free range chicken prepared with hot cherry peppers, toasted garlic, white wine, fresh lemon juice and parsley butter over roasted potatoes; and Pulpo a la Plancha (grilled octopus) which comes with potato puree, herbs, olive oil and roasted crushed Marcona almonds.

No dining experience is complete without an excellent glass of wine or cocktail. Rosenberg has worked with the restaurant’s Food & Beverage team to select wines to complement all of the dishes on the menu. “The idea with the pairings is to make sure that the flavors of both the wine and dish do not overpower each other. As a rule, lighter wines complement lighter foods and heavier wines complement heavier foods,” he said.

  1. The Spicy Calamari is a Must Try
The food is excellent! The “tapas” style servings allow you to try a variety of different flavors without having to order one big meal.
