Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference Singles Out College of New Rochelle Volleyball Players

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC) released its weekly Volleyball awards today and The College of New Rochelle senior libero/setter Kristina Nilaj (Yonkers, NY/Yonkers HS) and freshman setter/outside hitter Cydney House (Dublin, CA/California HS) have been named the HVWAC Volleyball Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Nilaj was named to the Kings Point Invitational All-Tournament Team after leading the Blue Angels in kills, assists, and digs over the three matches. The libero/setter averaged 2.4 digs, 2.0 assists, 1.5 kills, 0.3 service aces and 0.2 blocks per set in an outstanding overall performance. Nilaj highlighed her week against Farmingdale State, where the Yonkers, NY senior tallied a match-high 14 digs, a team-high 12 assists and eight kills.

House amassed 1.88 assists, 1.62 digs, 1.00 kills, 0.88 services aces and 0.25 blocks per set over a three match stretch at the Kings Point Invitational at Merchant Marine Academy. In her first collegiate action, the season opener against Farmingdale State, the freshman setter/outside hitter tallied 10 assists, nine digs, a game-high six service aces and five kills.

CNR returns to action on September 6, traveling to Brooklyn College for a match slated to begin at 7:00 PM.
