NEW ROCHELLE, NY — December 15, 2012 – The owners of the former Mahlstedt Coal and Lumber Company Building will unveil Westchester’s newest art gallery on Saturday, December 15th at an exclusive pre-launch event that will be attended by many of the areas most prominent political, business, and media leaders. Leading artists from New Rochelle will also be on hand.

The owners of Parchem Fine & Specialty Chemicals will host the event as a fundraiser to benefit Hope Community Services and as an opportunity to share some beautiful pieces in the Mahlstedt Gallery, a private venue showcasing the collection of artist Oshi Rabin and her husband Ephraim Rabin, the CEO of Parchem Fine & Specialty Chemicals.

Hope Community Services is a not-for-profit agency which has served New Rochelle residents through their pantry and soup kitchen since 1984.

Oshi and Ephraim Rabin share a lifelong passion for the arts. Oshi is a well-respected bronze sculptor and art collector. Her love of art fueled her desire to launch the Mahlstedt gallery.

“My passion for art dovetails with my deep commitment to humanitarian causes,” says Oshi Rabin who serves as the executive director of the Mahlstedt Gallery.

Oshi and Ephraim have traveled the world but chosen New Rochelle as home for their family, their work and their art.

“We have made a commitment to position New Rochelle as a mecca to showcase artists across various spectrums,” said Ephraim Rabin.

As the CEO of Parchem Fine & Specialty Chemicals, Ephraim Rabin has spent the past four years restoring the Mahlstedt Coal and Lumber Company Building which the company acquired in 2008.

As part of the adapative re-use of the building, Rabin has overseen an effort to lovingly rejuvenate a spectacular building which had fallen into disuse and disrepair.

The windows have been restored to reflect the historical elegance of the 20’s and the mosaic detailed sculptured fireplace in the center of the room is an art piece unto itself.

The Mahlstedt gallery is located in a 2,000 square foot space on the first floor within the Mahlstedt Coal and Lumber Company Building is located at 415 Huguenot Street in New Rochelle, NY.
