NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Nine Iona College faculty members will be guest speakers in a Distinguished Lecture Series hosted at Iona Preparatory School K-12 throughout the 2014-2015 academic year on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

Iona College faculty will present on various topics of interest to parents, students and the general public. The series showcases the work of Iona College faculty members and highlights the long-time relationship of the College and Iona Prep.

“The series taps the expertise of the faculty of the College, and it addresses a number of topics that would be of interest to communities from our respective schools and the surrounding area,” said Mark Kiselica, Iona College provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs. “I am grateful to our colleagues at Iona Prep of helping us to launch this series and to my faculty colleagues from Iona College who have volunteered to serve as the speakers.”

Iona Prep Principal Edward O’Neill said, “We share so much with Iona College, from our Christian Brothers heritage and the history of our campuses, to the excellence of our respective faculty and missions to develop the entire student. It is only fitting that what began as a friendly conversation among educators has grown into yearlong series that will not only benefit our students, but our New Rochelle neighbors as well.”

The inaugural lecture on Wednesday, September 24, will feature Teresa D’Aversa, Ph.D., professor of Biology, speaking on “Investigating the Effects of Brain Cell Dysfunction in Multiple Sclerosis.”

The lectures are open to the public and will take place in Room 401 of the D’Urso Technology Center at Iona Preparatory School, 255 Wilmot Road, New Rochelle, N.Y. For a listing of all nine lectures through May 2015, visit www.iona.edu/ionalectureseries.
