Swimming Competes in Sarah Lawrence Sprint Carnival

BRONXVILLE, NY – The College of New Rochelle swim team competed in the Sarah Lawrence College Sprint Carnival on Saturday in their second meet of the season.

The Blue Angels wasted no time earning points in the first event, the 200 yard medley relay finishing in fifth place. Claudia Benitez led the first group followed by Ilsy Rodriguez, Zuri Mena and Barrett Pritchard with a total time of 2:30.10.

Rodriguez and Mena competed in three more events each to lead the Blue Angels. Rodriguez picked up her best finish in the 100 yard Breaststroke placing fifth with a time of 1:27.99. Mena competed in the 100 Yard Butterfly finishing in 1:26.55, just shy of St. Joseph’s Tina Wong. The two paired again in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay along with Benitez and Pritchard with a time of 2:09.54 for a fifth place finish to edge St. Joseph’s College.

Rita Saad, Angela Avalos, Kelly Ball and Beatriz Lucero finished the day for the Blue Angels in the 200 yard Freestyle Relay finishing with a time of 2:43.17.

The Blue Angels are back in the pool on Wednesday November 5 for their home opener against Queens College at 7pm.
