NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The holidays are fast approaching and Family Christian Center is set to launch a new coalition in time to serve the community for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

On September 30, 2014, Bishop Reford Mott hosted a Homeless Summit at Family Christian Center in New Rochelle. The summit attended by local clergy; state, and city officials; as well as those delivering services to the homeless, created a forum in which the issues of homelessness and poverty in New Rochelle could be addressed. Growing out of that discussion is the newly formed initiative known as “One City, One Church” (OCOC).

“One City One Church is designed to focus the churches’ resources to more efficiently serve the community and combat homelessness and poverty,” said Bishop Reford Mott, Senior Pastor at Family Christian Center in New Rochelle. “We have a number of churches offering many different skills and services; our vision for OCOC is to unite local pastors and congregations under one banner to provide coordinated services to our beloved city”. OCOC will do just that as it collaborates its efforts with Hope Community Service Inc. to serve Thanksgiving and Christmas meals to anyone in need.

The Thanksgiving dinner will take place at Hope Community Services Inc. on 50 Washington Ave on Wednesday November 26 from 4:30pm-6:30pm and Thursday November 27 from 11:30am- 1:30pm. OCOC has received a notable response from the community; filling all volunteer positions just days after requesting assistance. Bishop Mott says, “It’s already evident; as a unified body, we are stronger together than we are apart.”
