NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Lady Mustangs registered two come-from-behind walk-off wins in a doubleheader against Briarcliffe College.

Between games, Monroe College honored seven sophomore players, Erin Bohan, Deniece Bent, Angie Lopez, Judith Rodriguez, Rebecca Demko, Idaysha Quinones, and Julia Toth.

All of the sophomores started the first game of the doubleheader, sparking a 7-6 Mustang win.

Rebecca Demko went 3-for-4 at the plate, and scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Toth, Quinones and Bohan added a hit a piece. Bohan’s hit was a solo round-tripper. Freshman Cassidy Wootten, pinch-hitting in the bottom of the seventh inning, singled to right centerfield, driving in Demko for the winning run in walk-off fashion.

In the second game of the doubleheader, with the Lady Mustangs trailing by three runs entering the bottom of the seventh, the Mustangs rallied to tie the score at 7. They went on to win the game with freshman Leidaly Garcia’s ground ball drove in a run. Garcia went 4-for-5 at the plate, driving in three runs and scoring one. Idaysha Quinones went 4-for-4 at the plate and scored one.

The Mustangs softball team plays four away games this weekend: a doubleheader at the Community College of Rhode Island on Saturday, with a conference doubleheader at Orange County College on Sunday.
