NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Forty-third Annual Strawberry Festival sponsored by The College of New Rochelle was held on Sunday, May 3 at the Wellness Center. During the event, the College hosted a fun-filled day of outdoor activities, music, entertainment, and strawberry treats for families. New this year was a bounce house and climbing rock, as well as an exciting giant slide. There was also face painting, sports challenge, dunk tank, water game challenge, henna tattoos and more. The Strawberry Festival, introduced by The College of New Rochelle in 1972, is the single largest event organized entirely by the College’s undergraduates. The concept of the Strawberry Festival originated in the mid-west during the 1890’s as an American festival celebrating the ripening of strawberries, the blooming of lilacs, and the coming of summer.
