NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Monroe College women’s soccer team fell to ASA, 2-1, in the regular-season finale from Pier 5 in Brooklyn, New York on Friday.  The teams finsihed the regular-season with equal records and will face each other a third and final time on Sunday at 7:00 PM in New Rochelle, to determine the Region XV Champion.

The avengers took the lead barely 10 minutes into the contest when a chip from way out was deflected by Tiffany Martinez, but the rebound was put in for a score.  The game went back and forth and was contested largely in the midfield, with both sides pressuring the ball throughout.  The Avengers led 1-0 at the half.

Monroe continued the pressure in the second half and was rewarded with several scoring chances from Maia Williams, Gabby Bluford and Delima.  ASA countered with a goal in the 81st minute and led 2-0.  Three minutes later, the Avengers were whistled for a foul inside the penalty area.  Delima connected on the penalty kick with a goal.  ASA ran out the clock and won 2-1.

The Mustangs closed out the year with a 10-2 overall mark and a #7 ranking in the latest NJCAA poll.  Delima led the team with 15 goals and 36 points.  The game against ASA on Sunday will be streamed live and fans whom cannot make it to City Park can click HERE to watch the game.
