Swimming Picks Up First Win Over Queensborough

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle Swim Team earned its first win of the season Tuesday night with a strong 74-58 win over visiting Queensborough Community College. With the win CNR improves to 1-6 on the season.

The Blue Angels won four individual events and a relay, to go along with five second place finishes as well.  The 200 medley relay team of freshmen Amanda Malone (Island Park, NY), senior Claudia Benitez (White Plains, NY), freshmen Serena Eljamal (Lagrangeville, NY), and freshmen Hailey Hall (Rouses Point, NY) took first place with a time of 2:33.56.

Individual winners included Eljamal in the 50 freestyle (33.76), Benitez in the 100 butterfly (1:25.48) and 500 freestyle (7:41.96), and sophomore Angela Avalos (Albany, NY) in the 200 IM with a time of 3:58.77.

CNR will be back in the pool Monday when they host Skyline Conference members St Josephs College (BK) and the College of Mount Saint Vincent. First event is set for 7:30pm.
