WHAT: The College of New Rochelle will honor Myrlie Evers-Williams, the widow of civil rights activist Medgar Evers, during an academic convocation celebrating Black History Month (February) and Women’s History Month (March). Evers-Williams, who will speak as part of the convocation, is a highly respected civil rights activist in her own right, as well as an author, politician and educator. She also is credited with restoring the NAACP’s reputation as the premier civil rights organization in the United States during her stint as Chairperson from 1995 to 1998. She holds 17 honorary degrees from leading colleges and universities and has received numerous civil rights, human rights anD community awards.
Media members will have the opportunity to speak with Evers-Williams following the convocation.
