NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Liberty Lines Bus Operators, Mechanics, Cleaners and other workers will be getting 11% pay raises under a tentative contract Transport Workers Union Local 100 negotiated with Liberty Transit Inc.

The five-year deal secures annual pay increases of 1.75%, 2%, 2%, 2.25% and 3%.

The pact also secures improved pensions and other benefits, including uniform allowances and nighttime differential pay.

“We are quite happy that we have achieved this contract without a strike or other job action,” TWU Local 100 Administrative Vice President Angel Giboyeaux said. “We met diligently with management for the entire month of February, and then around the clock for the final two days in an effort to secure the contract before the expiration of the old agreement. We believe that we have negotiated a fair and equitable settlement for our members that provide increases in each year, a much-needed pension improvement, and protection of our health benefits. All in all, it was a solid win for the workers, and we will be wholeheartedly recommending its ratification.”

The pact runs from March 1, 2016 to Feb. 28, 2021.TWU Local 100 represents about 600 Liberty Transit employees.
