Hudson Valley Restaurant Week Kickoff

Written By: Talk of the Sound News

NEW YORK, NY — On Monday, February 29, 2016, the Hudson Valley’s renowned chefs, restaurateurs and craft purveyors, came together to toast the 10th anniversary of Hudson Valley Restaurant Week (HVRW), presented by The Valley Table magazine, to kick-off the spring 2016 season, which runs March 7 through 20.  The celebration took place at Xaviar’s X2O on the Hudson – one of the most critically-acclaimed restaurants in the region.

The two-week dining fest showcases the talented chefs and exceptional dining experiences in the Hudson River Valley, available during HVRW at a fraction of the normal price point.   Chefs flaunt their best fare with menus featuring products from the region and diners get to check out new restaurants or visit old favorites and all customers can enjoy the early spring bounty of the Hudson Valley. More than 230 restaurants will participate, offering three-course dinners for $29.95 and lunches for $20.95.

“We started Hudson Valley Restaurant Week with just 70 restaurants and the goal to build the region’s reputation as a culinary destination. Now, with a record 230 participating restaurants, from Yonkers to Rhinebeck, a variety of cuisines and unique settings from historic to urban chic, riverfront to mountainside, the region truly is recognized as a great food destination. That’s certainly reason to toast to the 10th,” says Janet Crawshaw, publisher of The Valley Table magazine, founding sponsor of HVRW.

“HVRW is a celebration of everything that has made the Hudson Valley the dining destination of the Northeast.  On our 10th anniversary, I want to personally thank the growers, chefs, winemakers, breweries, spirit distillers and most of all, the residents of the Hudson Valley for making it all possible,” says Peter X. Kelly, chef and owner of the renowned Xaviars Restaurant Group, and founding Advisory Board member.

“Having been a part of Hudson Valley Restaurant Week since its inception, and with more than 120 of our restaurants participating, we here in Westchester County are honored to kick-off the 10th anniversary,” says Westchester County Executive, Robert P. Astorino. “Westchester’s food and beverage industry accounts for nearly $473 million in visitor spending, and events like this continue to help grow that number.  With Restaurant Week, The Valley Table has done an excellent job highlighting Westchester County and the entire Hudson Valley Region as the perfect destination for a quick culinary getaway.”

“Rockland County is thrilled to be a part of the Hudson Valley’s most acclaimed and well-known dining event,” says Rockland County Executive, Ed Day. “Residents and visitors alike look forward to our seasonal culinary celebration. We encourage everyone to take advantage of the delicious food at a great value and continue to support our local businesses. Let’s toast to another ten years of Hudson Valley Restaurant Week success.”
