Volleyball Wins Big in Conference Opener

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle Womens Volleyball team opened Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Thursday night with a dominating victory over The Kings College 3-0.  CNR won sets by scores of 25-15, 25-17, and 25-13.  The Blue Angels are now 3-0 at home and have won the last five home matches dating back to 2015.

CNR improves to 5-8 on the season, while Kings falls to 0-6.

Freshmen Imani Debose (Carson, CA) led a slew of CNR players who recorded kills on the night.  She finished with 11.  The story of the match was the Blue Angels service game.  After recording just one ace the last game at USMMA, CNR unloaded on the Lions, tallying 19 aces.  Junior Caitlin Harrison (Bronx, NY) led the way with 6 aces, while seniors Tiany Perez Diaz (Juncos, PR) and Melanie Ann Lopez Soto (Gurabo, PR) and sophomore Stephanie Garcia (Chino, CA) all had three.

On defense, CNR was led by junior Rosa Angeles (Yonkers, NY) who finished with nine digs.

CNR is now at the top of the table in HVIAC action (1-0) and will travel to Albertus Magnus tomorrow for a tri match with the hosts and Medgar Evers College.
