Niagara Defeats Iona In Straight Sets

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Iona College volleyball program fell in straight sets to Niagara on Saturday afternoon.  The Purple Eagles took the first set 25-18, and gathered momentum in sets two and three to finish off the Gaels, 25-16, 25-12.

Sophomore Claire Archibald had a team-high six kills.  Senior Kassandra Darnaby and junior Shaina each contributed four kills.  Campbell, Darnaby, and senior Karly White each had two blocks.  Sophomores Emma Rose and Kait Ferretti combined for 21 assists.

Rose added on seven digs to back up team-leader, sophomore Jessica Paolucci, who ended with 11.

Junior Alexis Gray had a match-high 30 assists, and fellow third-years Nicole Matheis and Madison May each had a match-high 10 kills.

Iona wraps up its weekend against Canisius tomorrow at 1:00 PM.  The game will be aired live on ESPN3.com.
