Iona to Host NCAA Selection Show Watch Party Sunday Sponsored by N6A

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Following Monday’s 87-86 overtime victory against Siena in the MAAC Championship Final, the Iona College men’s basketball team awaits the announcement of the NCAA Tournament field during the CBS aired NCAA Selection Show on Sunday. On Sunday, Iona College will host a Selection Show Party inside the Hynes Center, open to all friends, family, alumni and fans.

Doors to the Hynes Center are scheduled to open at 4:30 pm on Sunday, March 12 with a formal program to commence at 5:00 pm. CBS is scheduled to start the 90-minute Selection Show at 5:30 pm with the field of 64 teams to be announced.

With Sunday’s selection, the Gaels (22-12) are set to play in a second straight NCAA Tournament with back-to-back MAAC Championships. Additionally, it will be the 12th tournament berth in program history and fourth under Head Coach Tim Cluess.

The Maroon & Gold were selected as a No. 13 seed in the Midwest Region of the 2016 NCAA Tournament, falling to No. 4 Iowa State. Senior Jordan Washington recorded a double-double of 26 points and 12 rebounds while A.J. English ’16 posted 28 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
