WHITE PLAINS, NY — Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino invites you to witness an age-old tradition in the natural world during “The Night of the Horseshoe Crab” on Friday, May 26, at Marshlands Conservancy in Rye.
“People of all ages can experience this magical phenomenon that has been taking place on the shoreline of Long Island Sound for more than 250 million years,” Astorino said.
Beginning at 10:30 p.m., visitors will join the curator for a hike to the shoreline where they can watch in hushed silence as horseshoe crabs arrive to find a mate. Visitors should meet at the nature center and bring flashlights if they have them.
Marshlands Conservancy is a Westchester County Park and is located on Boston Post Road (Route 1), just past the Rye Golf Club, in Rye.
