Libraries Offer Fun Learning Experiences: Free Summer Programs for Infants, Toddlers, and Pre-Schoolers

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Free summer library programs for children ages six months to 5 years are being offered at the main New Rochelle Public Library and the Huguenot Children’s Library (HCL) beginning Monday, July 3 through Friday, August 11.  All programs are on a drop-in basis, first-come, first-served. 

Bouncing Babies, a Mother Goose program of songs, music, movement and a story for children 6 – 24 months, will be held on Thursdays, July 6- August 10, from 9:15 am 9:45 am in the children’s room of the main library and from 11:45 am – 12:15 pm at the HCL. 

Let’s Pretend, for children ages 3 – 5 years, introduces theater through games, songs, nursery rhymes, and an on-stage experience. Instructor Nora Maher leads the program on Thursdays, July 6 – August 10, from 10:00 am- 10:30 am at the Main Library, and from 12:30 pm – 1:15 pm at HCL.

3, 4 & 5s for children ages 3 – 5 years, includes stories, songs, and a take-home craft, and takes place on Mondays, July 3 – August  7, from 10:00 am – 10:45 am at the Main Library. Sessions will be held at HCL, on Tuesdays, July 11 – August 8, from 10:30 am – 11:15 am. 

Yoga Kids, for children ages 4 – 6 years, is led by a certified yoga instructor from Budding Buddhas. Using fun games and innovative movements, she’ll lead participants through yoga basics that help with relaxation, concentration and agility. The sessions will take place at HCL on Mondays, July 3- August 7, from 11:00 am-– 11:30 am, or from 11:45 am – 12:15 pm.                            

Preschool Fun & Fitness takes place on Mondays, July 3- August 7, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, in the Main Library Meeting Room. Children ages 2 – 5  and their parent, grandparent or caregiver, are invited to join the health & fitness team from Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital’s Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Services for a fun-filled hour of movement, games and healthy eating and lifestyle tips. Every Wednesday, at 10:30 am, Films from Picture Books , alternating with a Live Show will be featured in the Ossie Davis Theater. The first films are The Animal Train and The Gruffalo, on Wednesday, July 5. These are appropriate for children ages 2 – 5 years.
