NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New Rochelle Public Library’s Family Film series of Oscar-winners continues on Monday, July 17th, at 6:00 pm, with the 2016 film, Hidden Figures. The film relates the untold story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe)—brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big. The film runs 127 minutes and is rated PG. The free viewing will be held in the air-conditioned Ossie Davis Theater of the main New Rochelle Public Library.
The series continues on Monday, July 24th with the showing of the 1939 classic film, The Wizard of Oz.
