NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle Police Department is in for a treat! Tyler Carach, known as the “Donut boy”, will be stopping by the New Rochelle Police Department on Tuesday, August 1. New Rochelle Police Commissioner Patrick Carroll will surprise the 9-year old by swearing him in as Commissioner for the Day at 10 am in NRPD’s training room at 475 North Avenue. Following the ceremony,  Donut boy will meet New Rochelle Police Officers and present them with donuts, as his token of appreciation.

Tyler’s campaign “I DONUT Need a Reason to Thank Cops” started in 2016 with the goal of meeting and thanking police officers from all over the country. The Donut boy is currently on a six week road trip that will bring him to 13 different states and deliver more than 10,000 donuts to law enforcement.

Donut Boy will return later that day to attend NRPD’s National Night Out at 5:30 pm. National Night Out will feature facility tours of NRPD headquarters, equipment and K-9 demonstrations, fun activities for children & teens, food, plus a live DJ! Rain date will be Wednesday, August 2. Tours of the Harbor Patrol will also be given from 1:30-5:30 PM at 500 Hudson Park Road. Participants must fill out a waiver in advance of the boat ride. “National Night Out highlights our community partnerships, and strengthen our neighborhood connections,” said Police Commissioner Patrick Carroll. 

Additionally, this year’s event will feature a NY Citizens Preparedness Training Program presented by the New York State Citizens Preparedness Corps from 7-8PM in the NRPD Training Room. The program will provide residents with the knowledge and tools to prepare for any type of emergencies and disasters. Residents must call 914-654-2321 to pre-register.
