For 20 years, the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence has been making a difference in the lives of the city’s public school students. Now, with the help of internationally acclaimed artist Charles Fazzino, the Fund is celebrating its anniversary with A Year of Creative Expression.

On October 25 at 6:30pm, Fazzino whose studio is in New Rochelle, will attend the opening reception for his new show, The 3D World of Charles Fazzino, at the Fund’s Museum of Arts & Culture, located inside New Rochelle High School (entrance at the intersection of North and Braemar Avenues). The public is invited to attend, meet Fazzino, and view a very special collection of his famous 3D works. The exhibit will be featured in the Museum from October 16ththrough November 30th.

“I’m honored to be working with the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence to celebrate their 20th Anniversary,” said Fazzino. “I’m a huge proponent of arts education in our schools and I’m so happy to be able to support the Fund’s efforts in my own backyard.”

Fazzino also produced an original, exclusive piece of artwork that will be displayed across the city on car magnets as well as in 3D and flat works of various sizes matted on paper or aluminum. The magnets are a thank you for everyone who donates at least $20 to the NRFund’s 20th Anniversary fundraising campaign. Donations can also be made at nredfund.org.

In addition to the exhibition, Fazzino and his staff will be inspiring teachers and children at every school in the district, conducting workshops instructing them how to make the complex, detailed, and often whimsical works that are his hallmark.  An exhibit featuring student art, alongside Fazzino’s, is planned for the Museum of Arts & Culture in the spring of 2018.

“The arts enrich our kids in so many ways… teaching them how to be creative, to engage in problem-solving, and to be inventive. We must inspire our children to venture out into the world… to experience it… and to be a part of it. The arts do all of that and more!”

Among the programs sponsored by NRFund are Poetry, Arts, and Authors Our Loud, as well as subsidized SAT and ACT prep classes. This year NRFund is also offering an opportunity for administrators, teachers, parents and students to request grants that will support and enhance the educational experiences of New Rochelle students.
