07/17 Klezmer Music to be Performed at New Rochelle Public Library 7 PM

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Westchester Klezmer Project will perform a free concert for New Rochelle Public Library’s  International Music and Dance series on Tuesday, July 17th at 7:00 pm. The program will take place in the library’s Ossie Davis Theater and is suitable for all ages. 

The enthusiastic and talented group of musicians, which includes kids, teens and adults, perform classic and modern Klezmer music on a wide array of instruments. The Westchester Klezmer Program is one of the largest intergenerational klezmer band programs, with musicians learning klezmer to perform at various community based events.  The group has been performing the traditional Jewish dance music under the direction of Kenny Green since 2001. 

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning at 6:45 pm.  

The International Music and Dance series, now in its 35th year, will continue on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm with a July 24th with a performance by the Redhawk Native American Dancers. The series continues on July 30th with Middle Eastern Dance by Aszmara with Music of Armenia, Turkey and Egypt and on August 7th with Bokandeye African Dance and Drum Troupe. It concludes on Saturday, August 18th at 1:00 pm, with an outdoor performance by Calpulli Mexican Dance Company.
