New Rochelle City Council Has Jam-Packed Agenda for March 12th Meeting

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New Rochelle City Council will have a full plate when it meets next Tuesday.

Agenda March 12, 2019

  • The New Rochelle High School football team will be honored for its 2018 success which took the team to Syracuse for the New York State Championship.
  • The New Rochelle High School Varsity and Junior Varsity will be the subject of a resolution honoring their performance at the 2019 Nationals in Orlando, Florida.
  • There are numerous requested amendments to the Downtown Overlay Zone: (1) Sale/Development of Blessed Sacrament School for Modera New Rochelle, 338-unit apartment building at 25 Maple; (2) Allstate Ventures: 8 Westchester Place (73 units + retail), 64 Centre Avenue, 316 Huguenot Street (190 units + retail); (3) Car dealership into Stop and Shop at New Roc.

  • Veterans Affairs Notes (extensive notes, includes a proposal for a salaried City Hall job for a Veterans Affairs coordinator).
  • Re-Appointment of IDA Member Robert Balachandran.
  • A deal for the Venezuelan American Endowment for the Arts to operate the “Black Box Theater” cultural and arts venue at 587 Main Street. VAEA mission is to “promote through the visual and performing arts a deeper and richer understanding by Venezuelan citizens of U.S. culture, and by U.S. citizens of Venezuelan culture.”
  • Traffic control devices with cameras to have amber or yellow signal lights appear for uniform duration period.
  • New Ward Acre’s Dog Park rules.
  • Resolution prohibiting use of municipal property or resources for immigration or refugee detention facilities.
  • Resolution commending the Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleading Teams.
  • $40,000 for MBK NewRo.
