NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A Westchester County Grand Jury will be presented with the case of the officer-involved shooting resulting in the death of Kamal Flowers, 24, of New Rochelle, according to Richard St. Paul, attorney for the Flowers family.

“We welcome news of the presentment of evidence to a grand jury surrounding the wrongful death of Kamal Flowers,” said St. Paul. “It is our hope that Justice will prevail with the indictment of the officer or officers responsible for his death.”

Flowers was shot and killed on the night of June 5th by police officer Alec McKenna.

“McKenna remains on leave and the other officer returned on July 4th and was assigned to non-patrol duties”, said New Rochelle spokesperson.

St. Paul said the Flowers autopsy was completed by the Westchester County Medical Examiner.

New Rochelle PBA President Christopher Greco has yet to issue a public statement.
