Trump Plaza Ownership, New Rochelle, Development Commissioner Facing Million Dollar Lawsuit over Elevator Shoving Incident, Allegation of Homophobic Slur

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle Development Commissioner Luiz Aragon is facing a lawsuit against for assault, battery and defamation related to an incident a year ago where Aragon was seen on video physically throwing an a security man working at the Trump Plaza in downtown New Rochelle.

Johnathan Mpamugo filed a lawsuit seeking damages of one million dollars against Aragon, The City of New Rochelle, New Roc Parcel 1A LLC and Doyle Security Services

On October 25, 2019 Mpamugo was in an elevator which arrived on the Penthouse Floor of the Trump Plaza. Aragon is seen grabbing at Mpamugo and physically shoving him off the elevator.

Aragaon pleaded guilty on November 25, 2019 to Harassment in New Rochelle City Court in a plea deal.

Aragan made statements to the press that Mpamugo used a homophobic slur which prompted him to grab and shove Mpamugo.

Mpamugo has denied using a homophobic slur .

“Mr. Aragon must take accountability for his actions. In particular, his actions that were not accounted for in his criminal proceeding,” said Richard St. Paul, an attorney representing Mpamugo.

“Mr. Aragon publicly defamed Mr. Mpamugo to cover his bad acts. Filing this lawsuit will allow Mr. Mpamugo to reclaim his good name and correct the wrongs he has suffered; by using justice to pierce the bubble of political power Mr. Aragon and those who seek to protect him hide behind, said St. Paul.

“Once again, we call on Mr. Aragon to resign.” St. Paul added.

Aragon declined to comment.
